The London FA is delighted to announce that Girls Super League have been awarded England Football Accreditation League status.

Girls Super League LDN is the fourth league to achieve England Football Accreditation, formerly FA Charter Standard, this season.

The league has been facilitating football for girls since 2021 for 32 teams. The league formed to fill the gap in female provision in London. The league has become the first London FA affiliated all female league to gain England Football Accreditation. We spoke to Girls Super League Manager & Founder and Chair about achieving England Football Accreditation.

From Maya Williamson, Girls Super League Manager: “We are very proud to be joining the network of England Football Accredited leagues, with a commitment to delivering an inclusive and high-quality playing environment for girls across London. I would like to acknowledge all the participating clubs that make up our league’s supportive community, and their sustained work in growing the game for girls. A huge thank you to Amanda Lewis, Aquila Burgess, and Niamh Coyle at the London FA for their ongoing guidance and their assistance in reaching this milestone. I am confident that our continued collaboration will allow Girls Super League to reach its full potential of driving forward girls’ participation in football.”

From Maria Hasler, Founder and Chair: “I am delighted that Girls Super League has achieved England Football Accreditation. The league was founded to address the significant barriers that girls still face in seeking opportunities to play football. The rapid growth of the league shows that more and more girls have been inspired to play, and it has been incredible to see the girls thrive in our league community. The league’s England Football Accreditation status provides a framework that will allow us to continue expanding our reach, without ever compromising the quality of our provision. I am immensely grateful to the team at the London FA who have supported the league since its inception.”

Paul Bickerton, London FA CEO, said: ‘'Many congratulations to Girls Super League for achieving the England Accreditation. This is worthy recognition of all the excellent work they do to support the development of grassroots football in the capital. The demand for Women & Girls football in London is huge but the real difficulty lies in matching this demand with high quality, competitive opportunities. The work of leagues such as the Girls Super League provides exactly the kind of high-quality environment that these players need.’’

Nathan Batchelor, FA National Grassroots Leagues Services Manager, commented: "It is testament to the commitment and progressive attitude of this league and its member clubs that the league is able to attain England Football Accredited League status. The league should be applauded for embracing this process and demonstrating that they are constantly striving to improve, for players, coaches, referees and clubs.”

The dedicated and experienced committee plan to continue supporting their clubs to achieve England Football Accreditation. We are delighted to be able to recognise and reward the league for all the hard work that has gone into improving and growing the provisions available for girls and we look forward to working together in the years to come.

The England Football Accredited League is an accreditation that sets an operational benchmark for FA sanctioned leagues. This is awarded to leagues which can demonstrate their commitment to provide well organised football in safer, more inclusive environments.
